Last year our flagship institute moved up the road from Smith College to Bezanson Hall at the
U. Mass Department of Music & Dance.
The two fine Steinway D pianos in Bezanson Recital Hall assured an exceptional level of artistic work at this Institute. One of them is CD113 from the Steinway concert artists' department. We found that the sonority and musical atmosphere it was possible to create on these pianos made the ideas of Alan Fraser's teaching resonate that much more convincingly.
The Music Department's practice facilities also feature Steinway pianos.
The Institute is OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PIANISTS:
Amherst, Massachusetts with its many interesting eateries and numerous New England wood frame houses offers congenial
surroundings for the intense creative atmosphere of the institute. The historical significance of Amherst does not pass
unnoticed: the last and largest professional training given by Moshe Feldenkrais took place here, and the Dorothy Taubman
Institute was in residence for many summers. We look forward to seeing you there!
INDIVIDUAL LESSONS FOR LOCAL TEACHERS
Many teachers in the Amherst area may find it difficult to get away from their studio obligations for the entire week.
For them we offer individual lessons on a pay-as-you-go basis. We also encourage them to bring select students for a session or
two. The special focus will be on bringing Fraser's new technique strategies to young students, allowing them to improve
their sound and agility, advance more quickly and avoid the risk of injury later on.
Please contact Christine Olson to arrange these lessons.
ARRIVAL & ONSITE REGISTRATION
This year the Institute starts on a Sunday evening and ends the following Saturday morning so that participants will not have to fight weekend traffic coming and going. Your registration packets will be distributed at the opening gathering.
This typical schedule will be modified according to the makeup and needs of the group.

Christine Olson is a pianist and Alexander Technique teacher based in Northampton. Alexander Technique and
Feldenkrais Method are like two peas in a pod, so it was natural for her curiosity to be stimulated by Alan
