Alan visits the Ruhr valley a couple of times a year, and sometimes includes Dortmund on the itinerary - generally giving private lessons, not an institute proper - No ATMs and no lectures. Locations to be determined. He teaches in English or French; German translation may be available on request. Multiple lessons on the same day are possible.
Many relatively inexperienced pianists hesitate to attend an institute, feeling they are not good enough or not well-enough prepared. However, Alan insists that we are all here to learn and this approach can help all of us, no matter whether our program is well-prepared or in a shambles. Thus the Institute really is open to all interested pianists:
