EITORF MUSIK & TANZSCHULE

First held in November 2014, the Eitorf institute is a the longest one in Germany this year. The Eitorf Musik und Tanzschule has a fine concert hall with an excellent concert instrument, and there are numerous practice facilitites.

The Institute is OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PIANISTS:

  • students who wish to improve their sound and agility
  • amateurs who wish to feel more in command of the instrument
  • teachers who want new ways of teaching technique to their students
  • professionals who wish to hone their skills to the highest possible level.
Eitorf Musik & Tanzschule students and staff are welcome to audit the institute at no charge. They receive a 35% fee reduction for active participation.

Individual lessons will analyse basic touch to evoke a breakthrough in overall technique and musicianship. Professor Fraser teaches in English or French; German translation is available.

We also recommend airbnb which has a few listings in the Eitorf area. Book early to get your preferred accommodations.

MEALS

There are several restaurants within walking distance of the school; the Institute prefers the Italian restaurant which is farthest by foot but which has the best espresso. Meal expenses paid separately from tuition fees.

ALAN FRASER

Canadian pianist Alan Fraser gives master classes and recitals worldwide and conducts ongoing research and refinement on the ideas put forth in his three books, The Craft of Piano Playing (also in DVD), Honing the Pianistic Self-Image, and All Thumbs: Well-Coordinated Piano Technique. MICHAEL KLATTE

Michael Klatte is a pianist, organist and Feldenkrais practitioner who has been interested in the relationship of movement to music performance for many years. He has taken on the monumental task of translating Alan Fraser's books on piano technique into German, and has already finished Honing the Pianistic Self-Image. He has been studying piano with Fraser for several years and has translated for many of his workshops. Michael is a professor of piano at the Eitorf Music School, and is the organizer of the Eitorf Alan Fraser Piano Institute.
