In 2017 DC studio teacher Marjorie Lee attended our flagship institute in Amherst for the first time. Marjorie is a laureate of the William Kapell Competition, a powerhouse teacher whose students have gone on to study at Juilliard, Curtis, Peabody and other prestigious music schools. She brought Alan to the DC area for two weeks this April, where a combination of lectures, seminars, master classes and private lessons introduced Alan to local pianists. Response was positive enough for a Summer Institute to be planned.
The venue for this institute has yet to be determined, but it will definitely take place. In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact
Sophia Cholich or Marjorie Lee.
The Institute is OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PIANISTS:
This typical schedule will be modified according to the makeup and needs of the group.
Seminar topics will be modified depending on the needs of the group. Have your questions ready: all lectures include Q & A.
We will post directions to the venue as soon as it has been confirmed.
There is no shortage of housing in the DC area; for those on a tight budget we recommend Airbnb or Hostels.com.
The active participation fee covers FIVE individual lessons, daily group ATM lesson, daily seminar
lecture, and observation of all other lessons. Auditors participate fully but receive no individual
lessons. If you would like a private lesson but cannot participate in the institute activities, please
book an individual lesson in the last set of tables.
