GEMEENTELIJKE MUZIEKSCHOOL JAAP PRINSEN BLOEMENDAAL

The Gemeentelijke Muziekschool Bloemendaal lies a half hour west of Amsterdam on the outskirts of Haarlem, just a few minutes' walk from the Overveen train station. Alan Fraser has held an Institute there annually since 2012.

OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PIANISTS

Many relatively inexperienced pianists hesitate to attend an institute, feeling they are not good enough or not well-enough prepared. However, Alan Fraser insists that we are all here to learn and this approach can help all of us, no matter whether our program is well-prepared or in a shambles. Thus the Institute really is open to all interested pianists:

  • students who wish to improve their sound and agility
  • amateurs who wish to feel more in command of the instrument
  • teachers who want new ways of teaching technique to their students
  • professionals who wish to hone their skills to the highest possible level.
Jaap Prinsen Muziekschool students and staff are welcome to audit the institute at no charge and receive a generous discount for active participation. This applies as well to associates of Amersfoort and Leusden music schools.

Professor Fraser teaches in English or French; Dutch translation is available. There are plenty of piano practice rooms.

Prof. Fraser will teach extra individual lessons Friday evening to those interested.

  • question & answer period.
Institute participants should also attend this session.

COVID-19 STEPS

PROTECTION AGAINST THE CORONA VIRUS

Social distancing measures will most likely be in force for this institute. We regret that if the pandemic is not yet over, the following measures will have to be observed. Masks will be worn whenever the 2-metre distancing rule cannot be followed. There will be no touching in the lessons. Alan Fraser is a member of a high risk group - over 65, male, balding and portly - so he will take the steps necessary to protect both himself and all members of the group!

If you take the train to Overveen, leave the train station, walk back to the railway crossing and cross the tracks heading south. Coninue straight south until you see a large church on the left, a couple of hundred meters past the last small group of shops and restaurants. The next building is a day care center. This is directly in front of the music school. Walk through the courtyard of the daycare and along the passageway to the right of that building. The music school is in behind.
