Alan Fraser is holding an extended version of his institute in Paris at the beginning of January, a full seven days of intensive pianistic and body work. The institute returns to the Conservatoire Slave de Musique in Bagnolet, an eastern Parisian suburb. The official institute takes place from Thursday to Sunday, January 2-5, but Alan will stay three more days to work with students preparing to compete in the Nikolai Rubinstein competition, to be held in this same conservatoire in April. You are welcome to attend these special sessions - where Alan will give a lecture and a Feldenkrais lesson if there is the demand - and to take this opportunity to have a couple more lessons with him.
This institute is bilingual. Fraser is fluent in both English and French, and uses the participant's native tongue wherever possible. ATMs are and lectures are bilingual where necessary. Fraser teaches on the Conservatoire's excellent, newly refurbished concert Steinway, and numerous practice facilities are available.

This sample schedule may be modified to suit the needs of the group.
The Conservatoire is located in Bagnolet at 59, rue Victor Hugo, 93170 Bagnolet,
between Métro stations Robespierre (Line 9) and Galliéni (Line 3).
ATTENTION: If you arrive at Robespierre métro, do not head south into Montreuil, where there is another Victor Hugo Avenue. On the map at the entrance to the station, you will see a Victor Hugo Avenue which is not the one you are looking for. This station is in Montreuil, and the Robespierre street next to the station leads south into Montreuil. You need to head north into Bagnolet.
Take rue Arsène Chereau and continue to Place de la Fraternité. After this square, rue Arsène Chéreau becomes rue Robespierre (this is the right one!). Continue on Robespierre and take the first left onto rue Victor Hugo.
Look at this map of the
area around métro Robespierre, Montreuil to orient yourself. Ave. Victor Hugo is
in the top left hand corner of this map.
If you foresee some difficulty in finding your way from the metro to the Conservatoire, one of our organizers can meet you at the station. Please arrange beforehand.
The Conservatoire may be occupied with other activities at certain times. In this case the Institute will move down the street to the Delvaux Studio, located at 30, rue Cuvier, Montreuil,
between Métro stations Robespierre (Line 9) and Saint-Mandé (Line 1).
There are plenty of hotels in the area, and we also recommend
We take most of our meals at Le Figuier which is right beside the Conservatoire. The ambience of this place is truly unique, and the excellent food is well-priced.
Four individual lessons, a lecture and ATM each day, and observation of other lessons are included in the full 4-day tuition fee. You may also "make-to-measure" your registration, with whatever combination of active and passive days suits your schedule and your wallet.
Passive listeners participate in all activites but receive no individual lessons.
