Recorded at the Yellow Door Coffee House, Montreal
Alan writes, "Many pianists are at their best when there is no need to prove oneself, to impress the listener, to measure up to some fictitious gold standard of playing... when the only need is to subsume oneself totally in the musical experience and to share the resulting sense of wonder, awe and joy with ones beloved listeners. I had this pleasure when I returned to the Yellow Door coffee house, where I had often played folk music as a university student, to give a recital in the mid 90's. This is still one of my favorite recorded performances. It's an old Heintzman upright piano, but the music speaks... even today you can sense the palpable listening that's in the room."
