Alan taught several iterations of the Pianimals Online Institute in the years following the pandemic. The eight sessions of the series cover the eight sections of Pianimals, and they are the best introduction to the Pianimals world, with detailed explanations of the purpose of each exercise, plus actual Awareness Through Piano Movement (ATPM) lessons that give you a visceral experience of how the hand develops new abilities.
Each iteration of the same course material took on its own particular form, as Fraser adapted the material to the participants of that particular group. The ATPM lesson that begins each session gives participants a palpable sensory experience of the Pianimals exercises. In the individual lessons taht follow, the ideas are applied in practice in repertoire situations.
Earlier iterations have more individual lessons after each ATPM session. Purchase Pianimals I or Pianimals II to get a maximum impression of how the strategies apply in repertoire situations.
Later iterations of the course have fewer participants, thus fewer individual lessons following the ATPM. Here Fraser has time to expand the ATPM lesson itself, exploring new aspects of the basic exercises and introducing new details in an ever-evolving examination of the fundamental principles. Purchase Pianimals III, IV or V for later iterations and expansions of the basic Pianimals ATPMs.
There will be future iterations of this Introduction to Pianimals, but in the meantime, you can purchase recordings of past sessions. If you are interested in attending a future institute, please send us an email indicating which times of year might work best for you.
These sessions took place on Zoom, so the recorded quality is "workshop level," that is, less than fully professional. However, the quality of the teaching is second-to-none!
Please note that the designations "Pianimals I, Pianimals II, Pianimals III etc" do not indicate different levels of ability. Each of the five institutes covers the same eight sections of the Teachers' Manual, that is, all of both Pupils' Books One and Two. These are all different versions of the same course.
Recordings include all the Awareness Through Piano Movement (ATPM) lessons, all individual piano lessons and discussions, and sometimes a Q & A video which was occasionally sent out the Thursday following the Saturday session.
Purchase a complete set of recordings for the:

The fifth Pianimals Online Institute ran for nine weeks, with a small group of participants and only two individual lessons over the entire eight weeks. The group lecture/ATPMs were extended to fill in the empty time space.
