This residency promises a rich series of lessons exploring master level piano technique - but don't be put off if you play piano for the love of it and not out of professional ambition - you are still welcome! If you already know you want a lesson or lessons with Alan, please register below. If you want to wait until you have seen him work in person, you will be able to register at the end of the Friday evening event.
Piano Somatics, Fraser's unique teaching system combines expertise from several different schools of piano technique with the Feldenkrais Method. A sort of pianistic Sherlock Holmes, Fraser detects hidden problems in piano technique and comes up with brilliant, unusual solutions that transform participants' playing.
Apart from the Friday evening event, there will most likely be no lectures and no Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lessons in this residency, although we are looking into possibilities for a larger studio space in the neighbourhood for some ATMs. The days will be filled with individual piano, instrumental, vocal and/or Feldenkrais lessons. Participants may observe the other lessons that day for a small additional fee to be paid on site.

He also welcomes instrumentalists and vocalists, who find that their sound, their agility and their sense of ease and freedom from tension improve dramatically with Alan's Feldenkrais for Performers (Performance Somatics) approach. There is no limit to improvement!

Canadian pianist Alan Fraser gives master classes and recitals worldwide and conducts ongoing research and refinement on the ideas put forth in his books:
RAFAEL GUTIERREZ-VELEZ
A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Purcell School of Music in London, Rafael is an active soloist and chamber music pianist whose programmes explore the vast contrasts of music literature. He is currently pursuing soloist diploma at the University of Music and Representative Arts in Stuttgart under Professor Dr. Noam Sivan. Rafael has performed in concert venues around Europe, Mexico, Australia and Russia. He first started working with Alan Fraser on an ad hoc basis in 2024.

Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel your registration, reimbursement will be as follows: Cancellations more than two months before Institute opening date: 100% reimbursement. Cancellations more than one month before Institute opening date: 75% reimbursement. Cancellations more than two weeks before Institute opening date: 50% reimbursement. Cancellations more than one week before Institute opening date: 25% reimbursement. Cancellations less than one week before Institute opening date: no reimbursement except in cases of doctor-certified illness or acts of God. We reserve the right to cancel the institute due to insufficient enrolment; in this event, all registration fees are fully refundable.
