Alan Fraser visits Geneva a few times each year to teach privately at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique à Genève. These visits are for private lessons only with no Awareness Through Movement lessons or lectures. Fraser is fluent in both English and French, and uses the participant's native tongue wherever possible.
Fraser works with pianists to improve the ease and fluency with which they can orchestrate their sound, through subtle adjusments both to overall body posture and to hand posture that are recorded in the body's neuromotor representation. He can also work with other instrumentalists and vocalists.
Are you hesitant to attend? Not well-enough prepared? Don't worry; Alan welcomes all, no matter what the state of your program. Working on a new piece can help you avoid making technical errors in the learning process. Thus the Institute really is open to all interested pianists, vocalists and instrumentalists:
There is no limit to improvement!
Alan's Feldenkrais-informed approach to performance also helps instrumentalists and vocalists, transforming their sound by making minute postural adjustments that release hidden physical blocks. If you have a friend or colleague with a specific performing issue, why not invite them to come along.
We ask that all participants be vaccinated against Covid-19, or that you have proof of a negative Covid-19 test done less than 72 hours before your lesson. Please let us know your vaccination status when you register.
Alan Fraser contracted the Corona virus in November 2020 and again January 2022 (Omicron variant). Both times he had only mild symptoms and quickly recovered. He received the Astra-Zeneca vaccine in March and June 2021, and a booster shot in November 2021. Nevertheless, if national Covid-19 restrictions are still in force during the institute, the following measures will be followed for the protection and comfort of all participants:
In Geneva Alan often teaches in private homes, but sometimes will use a studio at the Conservatoire Populaire, located at Rue François-D’Ivernois 7.
Some lessons will be held at the "satellite conservatoire" at Chemin des Crêts-de-Champel 40.
